Pilot Grants

NDWS is conducting an annual, national competition for pilot research projects to accelerate use of new NDWS survey data of the professional dementia care workforce and linked data sources.

Apply Now for Year 1 Pilot Grants

Applications for Year 1 pilot grants are open now for high-impact research studies that propose innovative uses of Year 1 NDWS data that will become available in early Spring 2025.

Year 1 pilot awards are designed to contribute new research findings, generate pilot data to support larger studies, and inform the development of future surveys.

Deadline: 11:59 p.m. EST Nov. 1, 2024

Funding Amount: Up to $160,000 total costs per award (direct costs not to exceed $100,000)

Number of Awards: Up to 5, depending on applications received

Expected Award Date: April 1, 2025

Award Period: 12 months (or 18 months if using linked data)

At least one project will be awarded from each of the four survey settings: community clinicians, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and home health care agencies. Applicants may propose using multiple surveys in their analysis, but it is not required.

Proposed projects must use at least one NIA AD+ADRD Research Implementation Milestone.

Awardees will also have access to additional support from NDWS, including biostatistical consultation, to promote successful completion and dissemination.

Read the full details, including examples of potential Year 1 projects, eligibility, evaluation criteria, and submission criteria. Applications will be submitted through the University of Michigan-hosted Competition Space website.
